From me to we

The saying goes, “It’s always darkest before the dawn,” and that’s how it has felt in the construction industry. The COVID-era infrastructure stimulus delivered a profitless boom, while business insolvencies remained high. But there are finally signs of light with the dawning realisation that the industry simply has to change if it is to deliver the infrastructure Australia needs, when it needs it and for a price it can afford.

This change requires a fundamental shift of focus from ‘me’ to ‘we’.

By recognising that our destinies are intertwined and focusing on how we can help each other, rather than just ourselves, we can create a progressive, financially stable industry where everyone benefits. Collaboration builds trust, drives innovation and prioritises shared success over individual gain but real change demands a cultural shift—one that starts with each of us asking, “What can I do to help?”
